What we do
LiftUP prepares you for the working world: our members learn to work in a team, to integrate their work with others’, and to meet deadlines and requirements.
We grow our know-how by testing new manufacturing methods, especially in composites. And we create a space where peers with different backgrounds learn from each other.

Airfoils, CFD, structural calculations.
Each of our drones starts with a careful design process covering every main system of the aircraft. Flight Dynamics, Structures and Avionics develop and optimise every aspect, from airfoils to the structure and the onboard electronics, to maximise performance in competition.

In the lab: carbon fibre, moulds, vacuum bagging, 3D printing.
Once the design is done, we build the drones in the lab of the Department of Industrial Engineering. Structures and Avionics choose the most suitable material for each part: balsa, wood, glass fibre and carbon fibre.

Flying field, test flights, telemetry.
To test our aircraft we often go to equipped flying fields, where we take measurements and run trials. All the results feed into better performance and the design of future aircraft.

Test benches and the wind tunnel.
To keep improving we put great weight on research and measurement. We built our own tensile-testing machine for composite specimens and a test stand to measure the performance of the propulsion unit, motor and propeller.
